Church Partnerships
Universities are an important and vitally strategic place to minister. Students from all around the world study in Australian universities. We have the elite of China and the Middle East, countries that are closed to missionaries, coming to study on our doorstep. These students have proven to be extremely open to hearing the gospel. If we can reach these students, we will be winning the future generation of leadership for these nations!
Student Life has a Kingdom vision, seeking to bless and build the church in the broadest sense of the word. By partnering with Student Life, our partner churches have an opportunity to actively involve themselves in reaching University campuses through Student Life.
Student Life is broadly interdenominational and strongly missional. This enables a variety of churches to partner with Student Life in building God’s kingdom at University.
The advantages of partnering with Student Life:
- Disciple and develop students in ministry skills that set them up for a lifetime of effective Christian ministry in the workplace and their home churches.
- Have them graduate as motivated and equipped people who will serve as pillars in the local church.
- Or go on to full-time ministry careers of their choosing.
Student Life’s highly missional focus ensures every student has ample opportunities to gain ministry experience.
What does it mean to be a partnering church?
Partnerships can take many forms, from a simple endorsement, through to quite active partnerships.
We ask your church leadership to prayerfully consider what form of partnership you would like to build with Student Life. Our local ministry leaders are more than happy to meet and discuss specifics with your church.
Here are some suggested ways in which your church may like to consider partnering with Student Life in:
- People:
- Lay members interested in volunteering a day a week in campus ministry
- Youth minister who would like to participate in the Student Life University ministry
(Our existing missionary teams can provide the support and training necessary for these individuals to be fruitful and pastorally cared for on the field)
- Students – Your church may already have a number of students who could benefit and contribute by getting involved on campus. And if there is no Student Life movement on your local campus and you’d like to have a go at starting something, we’d love to work with you!
- Networking – You may have existing networks with other churches who may be interested in partnering with Student Life.
- Prayer – Prayer is the fuel to effective ministry. We need prayer and lots of it! Regular prayer updates and “war-stories” are available for interested churches.
- Profile raising –Around half of Christian students never involve themselves in a Christian group at Uni. You can help raise our profile and increase the cooperation in Uni mission by the body of Christ as a whole, both in your congregations and through your ministers’ fraternal.
- Finances – We don’t collect weekly tithes from our students, and our full-time workers are supported, like overseas missionaries, by partnering churches. A church may consider partially financially supporting one of our full-time missionaries.
