Reflections from 2007 MYC
The band at MYC were pretty tight. It turns out that they are all professional musicians who are full-time workers with CRAM (Creative Arts Ministries). This is a sister ministry of Student Life. They have band called Destination Life who do gigs for school kids. The CRAM guys led our worship sessions each morning, did an elective on music ministry and a gig during the final night party. Jon Reichardt, the lead guitarist, is doing his honours year in music at MQ. who do gigs for school kids. The CRAM (Creative Arts Ministries) guys play at MYC Since the theme of MYC was "Prayer in the life of Jesus", it is not surprising that that there were plenty of opportunities to pray. There is something special about being united in prayer with people from a whole bunch of different church traditions. You could be walking around during free time and come across a group of people praying together in a small circle. The crew who went to Korea for CM2007 were certainly fired up about prayer too. Apparently, the amount of time that the average Korean Christian spends on their knees really impacted everyone who visited for the week prior to MYC. Prayer and Worship at MYC More Prayer and Worship at MYC With so many people at MYC this year, it seemed like there was something for everyone. Free time activities including PlayStation, card games, board games, the traditional knitting session, Frisbee, tennis, soccer and even some American Football. The soccer games was epic. About 50 people were on this large overly grassy field with a couple of puddle traps to avoid on the fringes. There was even a local kid who decided to take on some Uni students with his unique style of attack and defense. Of course, a walk across the Weir was the "right of passage" that everyone had to do at least once on Conference. The crystal blue skies and rolling green hills framing the lake made exams feel like lifetime ago. Sport during free time The USA team from Deakin University organised the final night party. My Op-Shop gear was a little on the tame side compared to some of the expressive creations put together by the many extroverted party people in the house that evening. The sound was loud and thankfully the drinks were in abundant supply as the temperature difference between one side of the windows and the other increased in magnitude throughout the night. Our party "King and Queen" were Shebu and Bek from Monash Uni this year. Bek and Shebu (Queen and King) at the final night party
